Wandering the seas in search of her beloved Lindoro, the enterprising Isabella is captured by Mustafà who, bored by the acquiescence of his wife, want to woo one of the much celebrated Italian girls. It is the beginning of a hilarious comedy inspired by the real kidnapping by pirates of a clever Milanese lady, already set in music in 1808 by Luigi Mosca but turned five years later by Gioachino Rossini in the masterpiece that Stendhal called "perfection of the opera buffa". Marianna Pizzolato, one of the best interpreter of the role written for the legendary Marietta Marcolini, comes back to Florence to show the "lunacy" of the Italian Girl in Algiers in the exuberant exhibition of Joan Font.
