NAZZARENO CARUSI
Nazzareno Carusi is an Italian pianist. Together with his studies at the Conservatories of Florence and Moscow and at the Hochschule in Trossingen, a long-lasting acquaintance with Alexis Weissenberg and with Viktor Merzhanov, two of the greatest twentieth-century pianists, was fundamental to the development both of his pianistic style and his personality. He gave his first concert at the age of ten and since then has performed in the world’s most important theatres and at the major music festivals. He has been on stage with some of the greatest musicians of our day, including Chicago’s Fine Arts Quartet when Wolfgang Laufer was cellist and witness to the history of the legendary American ensemble. In October 2016 he performed for the first time in a duo with soprano Eleonora Buratto, at the Wigmore Hall in London and at the Teatro Bibiena in Mantua. Most of his recordings, including three live performances at La Scala in Milan, at the Teatro Colòn in Buenos Aires and for the Jewel Box Series in Chicago, have been published by the EMI record company. His prestige brought him the post of Professor of Chamber Music at the “Incontri col Maestro” International Piano Academy in Imola and he holds a professorship in the same subject at the Antonio Buzzolla Conservatory in Adria. He has been awarded the Special Mention in Ravenna’s Premio Giustiniano 2013 “for the unquestionably unique quality of his presence in the musical landscape in Italy and beyond. Carusi has succeeded in combining his brilliant career as a musician, crowned by international success and acclaim, with equally intense, prestigious work in spreading, commenting and reflecting on music by means of the press, television and all the new media”. Born in Celano in 1968, Nazzareno Carusi is deeply attached to his native territory and in 2012 the Presidency of the Regional Government of Abruzzo awarded him the title of “World Ambassador for Abruzzo” for his exceptional artistic merit and the prestige he has brought to Abruzzo”. He has been Artistic Advisor for the Bolzano “Ferruccio Busoni” International Piano Competition since May 2016. Since March 2017 he has been Ambassador for the Tuscan Cancer Society, a charity which provides cancer patients with free treatment in their homes.
