Myung-Whun Chung

Alessandro Manzoni died on 22 May 1873. Giuseppe Verdi wept alone, in his villa in Sant’Agata, for the loss of a friend. One year later, on 22 May 1874, Verdi conducted a grand orchestra with 110 professors and 120 choir members in the Basilica of San Marco in Milan. It was the first performance of his Requiem Mass, composed in memory of the great writer. Myung-Whun Chung will be leading the Orchestra and Choir of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
