Season 2015/16
Concert Beethoven's Symphonies

Karl-Heinz Steffens

Since its first appearance in Vienna in autumn 1816, the music of Gioachino Rossini overwhelms and conquers the Austrian capital. It's the brilliant language of Rossini the origin of the Overture in C major "in the Italian style" by Franz Schubert. From the Austrian composer moves instead Rendering, created by Luciano Berio for the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam, drawing on the sketches of the never realized Tenth Symphony: "I tried to follow, in the spirit, those modern restoration criteria that are considering reviving the old colors without concealing the ravages of time and the inevitable empty spaces in the composition". Closing the program, the Symphony no. 7 by Ludwig van Beethoven, that Richard Wagner called "the dance at its most sublime essence".
