Anthony Romaniuk

È proprio a Firenze che all’inizio del XVIII secolo Bartolomeo Cristofori, geniale artigiano al servizio del principe Ferdinando de’ Medici, progetta e costruisce il primo fortepiano: uno strumento realizzato interamente in legno, senza rinforzi metallici nella struttura, con i martelletti ricoperti di pelle anziché di feltro. Il suo timbro particolarissimo, tanto amato da compositori come Joseph Haydn e Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart e così diverso da quello dei moderni pianoforti, risuona ora nell’imperdibile ciclo delle sonate di Ludwig van Beethoven eseguito per la prima volta in Italia nella sua completezza. Protagonista del primo appuntamento, che si apre con due delle Sonate op. 2 dedicate a Joseph Haydn, è l’australiano Anthony Romaniuk, vincitore del primo premio alla Westfield International Fortepiano Competition.

ANTHONY ROMANIUK
A native Australian, he is based in Belgium where he is a faculty member at the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles. Having obtained degrees from the Manhattan School of Music and the conservatories in Den Haag and Amsterdam, Romaniuk continues to work closely with the noted pedagogue Sally Sargent. His awards include First Prize at the 2011 Westfield International Fortepiano Competition (USA) and Laureate at the 2010 Musica Antiqua Competition in Bruges. He has collaborated with violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja, cellist Pieter Wispelwey, Vox Luminis, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Stuttgart Kammerorchester and the Australian String Quartet; and given recitals at the Kunsthistorisches Museum (Vienna), the Concertgebouw in Bruges, Restoration House (Rochester, UK) and LACMA (Los Angeles).
