Stefano Bollani plays Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin directed by Zubin Mehta with the Orchestra of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
"An Experiment in Modern Music" is the title of the concert held in the afternoon of February 12, 1924 by Paul Whiteman and his Palais Royal Orchestra, in which Gershwin performed for the first time Rhapsody in Blue at the piano, applauded by Igor Stravinsky and Sergei Rachmaninoff. The concert opens with the festive Overture from Candide by Leonard Bernstein, ending with the New World Symphony by Antonín Dvořák.
