The cello and orchestra Concert op. 104 by Antonín Dvořák is one of the most intense operas by the Bohemian composer: composed during his time in America and re-elaborated after his return to Prague, it is considered a testimony to his artistic activity. Pablo Ferrández, a very young virtuoso, will perform with the Stradivarius cello Lord Aylesford, conducted by Zubin Mehta. The second part of the evening will be dominated by the majestic Te Deum, Anton Bruckner’s favourite opera, “for angelic voices, men in search of God, tormented choruses and souls cleansed by fire”, as the composer himself wrote in the inscription for the score, which requires an imposing orchestra.
