Season 2014/2015
Concert

Stefano Montanari

Pure baroque: five seventeenth-century concerti grossi where we find gavottes, sarabandes, allemandes and jigs, pieces which have disappeared from the repertoire of composers. A concert in the Church of Santo Stefano to recreate an atmosphere of contemplation, as was the case for the first performances of these works: speaking of Alessandro Scarlatti, Count Zambeccari, his contemporary, noted that "his compositions are difficult and meant to be chamber music, in the theater they do not work".
