Season 2014/2015
Concert

Rudolf Buchbinder

Two major works by Ludwig van Beethoven played by Rudolf Buchbinder. The first, created when he was twenty-six, follows the teachings of Mozart and Haydn, but shows the style typical of Beethoven's heroic impulse, the same that earned him the concert no. 5 the nickname Emperor, chosen by the publisher to win the sympathies of the French occupying Vienna in 1811, however well suited to describe the martial sounds that make up its structure.

RUDOLF BUCHBINDER

He was born in 1946 in Leitmeritz in Czechoslovakia and studied piano with Bruno Seidlhofer at the Universität für Music and Performing Arts Wien. In 1966, after a tour through North and South America, is awarded at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Meticulous scholar of sources, has an important collection of autograph scores, first editions and original documents. More than one hundred records, including the complete piano works of Haydn awarded the Grand Prix du Disque, witness the breadth of his repertoire, which features many works of the twentieth century.
