The Maestro Riccardo Muti returns to the Opera di Firenze on 31 March 2017 to conduct the Orchestra and Choir of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino with an extraordinary concert on the occasion of the Cultural G7 Meet.
The event, which has been long-awaited by both the city of Florence and the Teatro del Maggio, will take place on 31 March 2017 at 8 pm, when Maestro Muti will take to the podium to conduct the Orchestra and the Choir of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
Riccardo Muti has already conducted at the Opera di Firenze, in a stirring and splendid concert with his Orchestra Giovanile Cherubini in December 2014. This new and extraordinary opportunity to see and hear him leading the Orchestra of the Maggio is offered by the summit of G7 Ministers of Culture which will take place in Florence on 30 and 31 March; it is the first ever G7 meeting in history which Italy is organising with the aim of placing culture and cultural heritage at the centre of government policies.
To underline the importance of such a high-profile event, the summit will see the the Maestro take to the podium on two occasions: on 30 March for the opening of works at Palazzo Vecchio, dedicated exclusively to participants of the summit, and on 30 March at 8 pm at the Opera di Firenze.
