Born in 1975 in Copenhagen, he studied with the violinist Boris Kuschnir. Winner of the first prize at the Carl Nielsen International Violin Competition in 1992 and the Concours Musical International Reine Elisabeth de Belgique in 1995, he played with major orchestras and recorded, among others, for the labels EMI and RCA, works by Chopin, Brahms and Elgar, under the guidance of masters such as Colin Davis and Valery Gergiev. The latter invited him in 2010 to become the first guest conductor of the Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, beginning thus, next to that as a soloist, a conductor's career that led him to work with orchestras such as Staatskapelle Dresden , Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic, Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, London Symphony Orchestra.
