Krystian Zimerman, after the concert dedicated to Ludwig van Beethoven in his last performance in Florence, during the 77th Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, lends now his art to another great composer: Franz Schubert.

KRYSTIAN ZIMERMAN
Born in Zabrze, Poland in 1956 he began studying piano with his father. At six years of age he debuted on television as a child prodigy, playing music he had composed. Graduating from the Conservatory of Katowice, in 1975 he won the Chopin Competition in Warsaw. The following year he debutted with the Berlin Philharmonic, conducted by Herbert von Karajan. He has also worked with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Leonard Bernstein, Carlo Maria Giulini, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Lorin Maazel, Pierre Boulez and Seiji Ozawa. In 1988 the composer Witold Lutosławski, his compatriot, dedicated to Zimerman a concerto for piano and orchestra.
