Born in Turin in 1929, Roberto Bachi reached Ravenna following the transfer of his father, Alberto, who had been given command of the Rubicone infantry division stationed in the Romagna city. After his arrest in Torrechiara di Parma on 17 October 1943, on 6 December of the same year, Roberto left from platform 21, Milan Central Station, loaded on a wagon for Auschwitz. Research carried out by his mother Irene led to the discovery of his registration number, 167973, and the fact that Robert probably died of tuberculosis in the concentration camp. This is the story of his journey and his brief life.
