A grand outdoors concert with Fabio Luisi, the Orchestra and the Choir of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino: one of the activities for Pistoia Italian Capital of Culture. In Piazza del Duomo, the historical and cultural heart of the city, the notes of Gustav Mahler's Symphony n. 2, significantly entitled Resurrection, will play. A composition with a difficult history, which begins with a serious and solemn music, as per the indications in the score by Mahler himself, to then build in force, arriving at a conclusion of redemption with the final chorus, the hymn The Resurrection, introduced by flutes sounding wie eine Vogelstimme, “like birdsong”.
