In 1984 he founded the baroque orchestra Modo Antiquo with which he performs in concerts throughout Europe both as soloist and conductor. Since 2006, he is the Principal Guest Conductor of the Orchestra Filarmonica di Torino, and works with numerous orchestras including the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and the Staatskapelle Hall. With a catalogue of over 40 recordings, he received two Grammy nominations for his album Vivaldi, Concerti per molti Stromenti and the Concerti Grossi, Op. VI of Corelli. A member of the scientific committee of the Istituto Italiano Antonio Vivaldi at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice, in 2009 he was awarded the silver banner by the Region of Tuscany "for artistic eclecticism and evident cultural depth." He is also a painter, engraver and satiric author.
