The title (turn down your radio please) is a reference to a famous song by Alfredo Bracchi and Giovanni D’Anzi, Silenzioso Slow, which was made a hit by Norma Bruni and Alberto Rabagliati. It was in the years leading up to Italy’s entrance into the second world war, the years in which the radio had by then become part of middle-class daily life, developing an interesting tradition of popular music. The most famous hits of the time will be presented alongside the pompous songs of fascist propaganda and fragments of historic documents which take us back in time to one of the most dramatic moments in Italian history.
